Media Announces Patent-Pending Network Virtualization Technology for
the Niveus Disc Changer
Starting
in early 2006, customers of the Niveus Disc Changer will be able to
access “My DVDs” from any media center zone on the home
network
Las
Vegas, 3 January 2006 – Niveus Media, Inc., manufacturer
of media entertainment devices for the high-end audio/video market,
has announced the development of network virtualization technology for
the Niveus Disc Changer – Ice Vault 200. The latest of Niveus
proprietary add-ons to the Windows XP Media Center Platform, Niveus
virtualization technology allows single, or multiple, Niveus Disc Changers
to serve up an entire collection of DVD Movies to any zone on the home
network powered by a Niveus Media Center.
The new technology
developed by Niveus is comprised of virtualization software that allows
the Niveus Disc Changer(s) to appear as a network storage device to
every media center on the home network. Contents of the DVD movie are
transferred, CSS intact, to the particular zone media center where the
movie is decoded using the “My DVDs” feature. No copying,
or duplication of the DVD takes place; the movie is played from the
actual DVD disc. Since no recompression, transcoding, or additional
DRM is applied, Niveus virtualization technology maintains the full
quality and integrity of the original DVD movie for playback on any
ISF-certified Niveus Media Center.
“Consumers
demand to access all their digital media from any zone in the home continues
to rise. The ability to play back your favorite DVD movies from a central
digital library is a natural extension to the Niveus Media Center,”
said Tim Cutting, CEO of Niveus Media. “We’re pleased to
announce this latest technology resulting from our continued R&D
investments in the Microsoft Media Center platform.”
Niveus
Media will be demonstrating this new technology to a select group of
invite-only attendees at the 2006 International Consumer Electronic
Show this week in Las Vegas from January 5 – 8. More information
on licensing, additional hardware requirements, and availability of
this technology will be available via the Niveus Media website early
this year. www.niveusmedia.com
